Brad Wingert, Ph.D.
Dr. Wingert joined the Lewiston Choraleers as its musical director and pianist in September 2022. He is a music teacher in the Niagara Falls City School District where he teaches general music and chorus. Since 2012, he has been a member of the faculty at Canisius College where he directed the choral ensemble Cantio Sacra and currently directs the Canisius College Chorale. Since 2001 he has been employed as a church musician in the Diocese of Buffalo, and currently serves as Director of Music at St. Peter’s R. C. Parish in Lewiston, NY.
In his career as an educator, he taught at Niagara County Community College (NCCC) from
2008-2021, first serving as an adjunct instructor, then as assistant professor and coordinator of music, and Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs. At NCCC he instituted a Music Play class for children in the Child Development Center, and was co-creator of the NCCC Film Series (NCCCinephiles). He has taught Pre-K to 8 th grade music at the former North Tonawanda Catholic School, was long-term music substitute at the Catholic Academy of Niagara Falls, and has taught at SUNY at Buffalo. In addition, he has presented on music and movement at SUNY at Buffalo, Niagara County Community College, Canisius College and for the Macro Analysis Creative Research Organization Musician’s Conference in
Madison, Wisconsin, and has been an assistant rehearsal conductor and accompanist for the University at Buffalo Chorus under the direction of Harold Rosenbaum, with whom he studied choral conducting.
Dr. Wingert holds a certificate in Gregorian Chant from the Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra in Rome, Italy; an A.S. in music from Niagara County Community College, B.A. in music from Canisius College, and Ed.M. and Ph.D. degrees in music education from SUNY at Buffalo.
